Inclusion of athletes with a Difference in Sexual Development (DSD) and Transgender athletes in elite sport


Welcome to the DSD And Transgender Elite Sports (DATES) study!

Thank you for taking the time to read through the following information and, hopefully, taking part in the DATES study. The following questions were created to gather opinions surrounding the inclusion of athletes with a Difference in Sexual Development (DSD) and transgender athletes in elite sports.

The questionnaire should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Please read the information sheet below and provide consent if you are happy to complete the survey by selecting ‘Yes’ to each consent question on the next page.

Please try and answer all questions honestly and remember that all answers will be kept anonymous and secured. Answer as many questions as you can, as long as you feel comfortable.

Questions marked with a red asterisk are compulsory. Questions without a red asterisk are optional.

At the end of the questionnaire, there will be a completely voluntary option to have a potential interview surrounding the topics that are discussed in this questionnaire. If you would like any further information regarding the questionnaire, please contact 976289@swansea.ac.uk.

This research will help grasp a better understanding of current opinions surrounding athletes with a DSD and transgender athletes' involvement in elite sport by asking questions surrounding this topic to athletes themselves, as well as non-elite athletes.

This research could be seen as highly important, as there has been limited to no research done in this specific area.

A note on privacy
This survey is anonymous.
The record of your survey responses does not contain any identifying information about you, unless a specific survey question explicitly asked for it. If you used an identifying token to access this survey, please rest assured that this token will not be stored together with your responses. It is managed in a separate database and will only be updated to indicate whether you did (or did not) complete this survey. There is no way of matching identification tokens with survey responses.
